First Day of Round 2: The Biggest Upset of the Tournament, Villanova's Luck Runs Out and More

#1 overall, Kansas, entered Round 2 as the favorite facing #9 of the Midwest Northern Iowa (UNI). UNI though didn't get the message as they managed the upset of the Tournament beating #1 Kansas 69-67. Ali Farokhmanesh made a crucial three for UNI near the end of the game to help seal the deal. Kansas already goes home failing to make the Sweet 16. UNI takes a spot in the Sweet 16 as they will face the winner of #5 Michigan vs. #4 Maryland.

Other games included #2 of the South region, Villanova, being beaten by #10 Saint Mary's, 75-68. They didn't get enough of the referee's love this time around. Still feel sorry for Robert Morris. The other #1 team that played today, Kentucky, continued their journey through the East region as they destroyed #9 Wake Forest, 90-60. Kentucky's not such a bad pick now, is it? In the same region, #11 Washington upsets #3 New Mexico 82-64. As for the West, #2 Kansas State beat #7 BYU after a slow start, 84-72. BYU just couldn't stay hot for very long.

Day 2 of Round 2 is tomorrow. I'd watch out for the other #1's. I'm talking to you Duke and Syracuse.

P.S. This is my 200th post on my blog. MAN AM I BORED!!!
