The Elite 8 began today with the West final featuring #5 Butler vs. #2 Kansas State. It was the Butler Bulldogs hanging on for the win 63-56. They have won the West bracket and are going to their first Final Four in school history. Not to mention that this Final Four will be in their hometown of Indianapolis. Talk about home court advantage.
Meanwhile, the East Region was also decided featuring #2 West Virginia vs. #1 Kentucky. It got nerve racking near the end when the game slowed way down and Kentucky was trying to mount a comeback (ironically against the Mountaineers). But West Virginia prevailed 73-66. They have won the East and will go to the Final Four for the first time since 1959. With the elimination of Kentucky, Duke is the only remaining #1 team as they will face #3 Baylor in the Southern Regional Final tomorrow.
P.S. So I was wrong about Kentucky winning the whole thing. At least they lasted longer than Kansas.
