Jackson Takes Hasselbeck's Place, Palmer Will Stay Retired, Burress Back to the Giants? (and more)

First of all I must say that my interest in the 49ers has dropped a bit considering that Alex Smith will re-sign to a one year deal worth $5 Million dollars. We now know for sure the 49ers will not make any noise in January.

Second, why not go after Hasselbeck? Matt Hasselbeck and the Seahawks have parted ways with Hasselbeck saying he will not re-sign with the team. There is speculation that he will go to the Titans to help them out with getting wins and developing their new QB, Jake Locker. He could come here instead where there is also a solid running game, a better chance of making the playoffs, and we also need someone to develop our young QB, Colin Kaepernick. Instead we re-sign the failure. Great move, Harbaugh, you jacka**.

Meanwhile, Tavaris Jackson takes Hasselbeck's place in Seattle as they have agreed to a deal. I would've taken him over Smith. ANYONE BUT SMITH, HARBAUGH!!! At least Tavaris Jackson gets another shot at a stable starting job as QB. Good for him.

Wish I could say the same thing about Carson Palmer. The Bengals have said they will not trade Palmer basically taking a moral stand saying that he agreed to a contract with them and he needs to fulfill it. So, I guess Palmer will stay retired. Somewhat proud of the Bengals for just sitting a valuable trading commodity like that. Still, I WISH WE COULD'VE GOTTEN PALMER, HARBAUGH!!!

The craziness doesn't end there for today as the Giants are actually talking to Plaxico Burress about a possible return to the team. I've got to give another moral compliment, this time to the Giants. I was thinking this is crazy talk for a few seconds but then I thought about a bit: they are being the bigger man here and considering giving him a second chance. I mean, it's not like he did a horrible thing. He shot himself in the leg with a gun he didn't have a permit for. He didn't rape anyone or killed anyone with a car or took the Anime Pokemon a bit too far. He just shot himself in the leg.

Also in the news is that the Cowboys are cutting several players, like most teams are doing, but one of them is Marion Barber. Charles Johnson has agreed to a deal with the Panthers for 6 years, $72 million. And the Jets are looking to re-sign Santonio Holmes and are looking into Nnamdi Asomugha.

The bottom line of day one into the free agent madness is ALEX SMITH IS GOING TO RUIN THE 49ERS A LITTLE LONGER!!! THANKS FOR THE UPCOMING WASTED SEASON, HARBAUGH!!!

P.S. Very proud of the moral stands I'm seeing here today. You know, the kind of stands and acts that are more likely to be seen in an amateur version of football and not were money and profit is at stake. HA HA HA!!!
