US Women Play Solid Encore

The US Women's Soccer Team played France today in the semi-final round of the Women's World Cup. Lauren Cheney scored the first goal 9 minutes in but the French would score early in the second half with Sonia Bompastor tying it up. The game would not go into another extra time affair, however. Abby Wambach didn't want late game heroics, just regulation heroics. Wambach headed in the go ahead goal in the 79'. Just a few minutes later, Alex Morgan scored an insurance goal. The USA would beat France, 3-1, and advance to the World Cup Final.

A fine performance by the US as they now go for history. They have a chance to now win a third World Cup Title. They will have to get by Japan to become World Champions again as they defeated Sweden, 3-1. The game is Sunday which is sure to have all the support the US can give. Okay, at least from their male pro athletes on Twitter.
