Another World Cup Day went by with Group D's 2nd games finishing up with Ghana vs. Australia. Ultimately these two would fight to a draw after some early scoring. Australia struck first with Bret Holman in the 11' and then Ghana scored on a penalty kick after a red card in the box by Australia's Harry Kewell. It ends 1-1 with Ghana still having a lead in Group D by one point.
Group E played Yesterday as well with the Netherlands going against Japan. I had hope Japan would get another lucky win after the first one over Cameroon but it was not meant to be. Wesley Sneijder of the Netherlands scored the only goal of the game in the 53'. Japan just didn't have possession as much as the Dutch to mount a comeback.
The other Group E game had Denmark vs. Cameroon. Both teams needed a win to keep up with the Netherlands and Japan. Denmark would get that win despite going down 1-0 early. Denmark's Nicklas Bendtner scored in the 33' to tie and Dennis Rommedahl scored in the 61' to give them the win. Final score: 2-1.
Currently, the Netherlands have a firm grip over Group E with 6 points and have actually clinched a top spot in the group considering Japan has to play Denmark. Both have 3 points and only one can get 3 more with a win while Cameroon have none and have no chance at a top spot.
