Perhaps the second most hyped draft in the USA came about yesterday with the NBA Draft. For the NFL Draft, I can barely make it through Round 1. This draft, we're mainly talking about John Wall and that's enough. Sure there are other good players like Evan Turner and DeMarcus Cousins but I barely have enough attentiveness to write about Wall. This isn't much of a story, though, as Washington took him as the Number One Pick, something everyone predicted as soon as Washington got the Number One Pick.
What may be more interesting is the question that comes along with this pick: What are the Wizards going to do with Gilbert Arenas? He's a got a huge contract attached to him, he's been injury prone the last couple of years, and the worst part is that he had the Gun episode in a locker room. Now Arenas may change his habits going into next year in order to not be more controversial but that may not be enough for him and the Wizards. Arenas is likely to end up somewhere else by the beginning of the 2010-11 season but it will likely come through a trade in which the Wizards get very little.
P.S. Evan Turner would picked after Wall at #2 overall by the 76ers. Cousins would be picked 5th overall by the Kings. Interestingly enough, Gordon Hayward of Butler gets picked 9th overall by the Jazz. Nice move to enter the draft after all.
