Blazers Even Series, Grizzlies Have Edge Over the Spurs and More

More Playoffs? FINE!!!

The Mavericks and the Trail Blazers played game 4 of their series in Portland with the Blazers looking to even the series at 2-2. It wasn't looking good in the 3rd quarter when the Blazers were down by 23. Portland made a run in the 4th quarter that incited the Rose Garden something fierce. Leading the charge was Brandon Roy with 18 of his 24 points coming in the 4th. Roy also made the game tying 3 pointer (with a free throw) and then the go ahead shot with less than 40 to go. The slim lead would hold and the Blazers win, 84-82. This series is now even heading back to Dallas. Momentum is surely with the Blazers.

Another great game was the Grizzlies facing the Spurs in Memphis. The Grizzlies now had to take down the Spurs with Manu Ginobili, something they had failed to do in game 2. The home atmosphere was surely a help. Zach Randolph was key for the team who scored 25 points, including the game winning 3 pointer with just over 40 seconds to go. Grizzlies win, 91-88, and take a 2-1 series lead. The Spurs look like they are in trouble as this number one seed might be looking at an early exit.

In the grand scheme of things, the other two games were alright. Pacers were finally able to beat the Bulls and avoid the sweep, 89-84. They still look doomed headed back to Chicago but they at least have a win (Knicks). As for the last game, the Thunder barely beat the Nuggets, 97-94, and now have a 3-0 series lead. It looks like it will be the franchise's first playoff series victory since moving to Oklahoma City.

The Mavs and the Trail Blazers are making a compelling case for most interesting series in this long first round. Can the Mavs rebound in Dallas?

P.S. Yes, the NBA postseason is way too long. If I were in charge, I would make it exactly like the MLB Playoffs (after banishing Kobe Bryant for life). No Postseason deserves to be more than a month long.

P.P.S. Some goes to NHL.

P.P.P.S. (that's right, THAT many P's) Also Bud Selig, DON'T MESS UP THE PERFECT FORMULA!!!
