MLB Takes Over the Dodgers

Last summer, Major League Baseball sold the Texas Rangers after caring for that team and keeping it operational. Now it looks like MLB will have to do that all over again. The Dodgers organization has been in disarray for a while now since back in 2009 when the McCourts started divorce proceedings. The divorce has left the team in bad shape and earlier this week the team asked for a $30 million loan from their TV partners, FOX. Taking into consideration their financial troubles and the fact that a Giants fan was attacked due to what could be conceived as poor security, Bud Selig and MLB have taken over day to day operations of the team. Selig will appoint someone to represent the team over the next few days.

It seems that the once proud Los Angeles Dodgers have hit Rock Bottom. It's a sad sight to see when Selig and MLB have to come in and run things because your owner is unable to. This divorce has paralyzed the entire franchise and perhaps it was inevitable that MLB would have to step in and take care of things. The team is still owned by Frank McCourt but from what I can gather it seems like only a matter of time before there is a new owner.

I wish MLB luck in taking care of another franchise. Who knows how long this will last. The sooner a new owner shows up, the better.
