More Replay Coming to MLB?

These last couple of years have shown baseball their flaws in officiating. The Imperfect game and the foul line incident with the Twins and the Yankees are just two of the top controversies. It seems that baseball is finally going to fix these flaws... mostly. Apparently MLB has talked about expanding instant replay stipulations to allow trapped balls reviewable and foul line calls reviewable. These new rules could be implemented for the 2012 season. However, safe or out calls at the base pads was not brought up.

This is a postive move for the game as more calls will essentially be reviewed making the game more objective and fair. Still, the base pad calls could've been addressed. I have no problem not bringing up balls and strikes but I think close base pad calls should've been included. There is a possibility they brought it up in discussion and eventually considered it not an issue. I don't see how that's possible, however, considering how big the Imperfect game was.

The important thing to remember is that baseball is headed in the right direction. Baby steps, Bud Selig. We'll get there.
