Once again it looks like the end of the NHL Season has crept on me like the beginning of the NHL Season. Man, this season went by fast.
As for the teams that are in it, the Eastern Conference has the Capitals at the top spot with 107 points for the year. It seems surprising that New Jersey failed to qualify for the playoffs this year. Truly shocking. The other two big division winners are the Bruins in the Northeast and the Flyers in the Atlantic. The big question in the Conference is how long is Sid the Kid going to stay out for? The Penguins face the Tampa Bay Lightning in the first round.
In the Western Conference, the Canucks dominated the standings getting 117 points, enough for the President's trophy. Their big duo is the Sedin twins, particularly Daniel Sedin who was tied for 4th in goals with 41 and had the most points in the NHL with 104. Henrik Sedin isn't so bad himself with 94 points, 75 coming through assists. The Canucks face the Stanley Cup Holders, the Chicago Blackhawks, in the first round of the playoffs.
The postseason starts Wednesday with 4 games scheduled. I hope this year's playoffs will be just as good as last year. And before I go, I must quickly reflect on the 2010/11 NHL Season and say Thank You to the New Jersey Devils for actually proving me wrong.
P.S. OH SO WRONG!!!
