First Round of 2011 NFL Draft: Boos Galore and More

The NFL Draft started yesterday and of course the topic of discussion throughout was the QB's and the amount of boos that fell on the ears on Roger Goodell. You'd think it was a Raider's game or something. Anyway, Cam Newton, to no one's surprise, went #1 overall to the Carolina Panthers. I can see Jimmy Clausen's future and all I see is a screw. The next QB to go was Jake Locker who was taken by the Titans. I guess Vince Young is truly done in Tennessee. After him, Blaine Gabbert went #10 to the Jaguars after getting that pick from Washington. The next QB to go was a bit of a shock; Christian Ponder was taken by the Minnesota Vikings at the 12th pick. Ponder was at Florida State and now has big shoes to fill in Minnesota. That was all the QB's taken in the first round which means that Ryan Mallet is still available.

As for the other first round notables, the Cardinals pick up the much hailed Patrick Peterson at #5 pick despite needs for a QB. He is big for a CB and he's supposadly much like Darrelle Revis. The 49ers (my favorite team) picks up Aldon Smith for the 7th pick, a DE from Missouri. Again, same need at QB but they passed. Nick Fairly joins the Lions as the 13th pick. Him and a man named Suh may start bringing fear to offensive linemen across the NFL. The Saints would take two in the first round; Cameron Jordan, a DE from Cal, and Mark Ingram, the Heisman winner of 2009. Looks like it's the end of Reggie Bush in New Orleans; his assumption, not mine.

The first round ends with Ryan Mallet still looking to get picked. I didn't like it that much. I still think the 49ers should've picked a QB. My favorite thing about the draft so far was Roger Goodell getting booed all night long. I can still hear the boos.

P.S. I'll take a midget with no arms. ANYONE BUT ALEX SMITH!!!
