Time to preview the AL Central. The 2nd biggest move during the off season happened in this division and happened to what is, of course, the defending division champions and my favorite. Prince Fielder was acquired by the Tigers as they sought to make sure the loss of Victor Martinez wouldn't affect them this year... or for the next 8 years just in case. The big challenge will be getting Miguel Cabrera moved over from 1st base to 3rd base. So far the move hasn't passed the "Eye Test" but they have time. Of course the team could've used some more help in the pitching department but there wasn't really much to pick up this off season. Guess Justin Verlander will have to do again. Though Doug Fister looks like a solid #2.
As for the rest of the division, good luck. I have lost faith in Twins what with now a lack of pitching and Joe Mauer not being as good as advertised anymore. Also, when did Justin Morneau start to suck? I am excited to see if the Royals are any good this season. Jonathan Sanchez is now on the team and I want to see if he can now rebound after a rough season. Also want to see if the Indians are any good this time around. They can possibly rebound if Ubaldo Jimenez can suddenly become good again. Same goes for Derek Lowe. As for the White Sox, no Ozzie, no Mark Buerhle, not interested.
To sum up, look to the Tigers to make a playoff run while the rest of the division contend for the #2 spot. I'll be surprised if any of them even finish within 10 games of the Wild Card leaders.
