Manning Going to Mile High

Since the retirement of John Elway, the Denver Broncos have been looking for a replacement to their greatest QB ever. They kept going through QB's and just never could get it right. Well 10 QB's and Tim Tebow later the Broncos have their guy to make another Super Bowl run.

Peyton Manning has spent more than a week looking at teams and destinations for him to play ball ever since the Colts officially released him. He was courted by basically half the league looking for a new QB: Arizona, Seattle, Miami to name a few. But now it was down to three: San Francisco, Tennessee, and Denver. San Francisco would've be great because it was the strongest team available and Tennessee would've been great as it's a second home to Manning. But it was neither of those teams. Instead, Manning opts for Denver, Colorado to play for the Broncos at Mile High.

To be honest, I'm a little mystified with this move. I know Denver was a real possibility and for good reason but how do you turn down the 49ers and/or the Titans. The 49ers give you the best chance to win the Super Bowl right now. They have a great defense, a great offensive line, a great running game, and a receiver core that was just made better with Mario Manningham and possibly Randy Moss. As for the Titans, it's a second home where your wife is from and where you played college.

Denver winning in the final three doesn't make sense to me. It's in the mountains in a extremely different climate to what Manning is used to (indoors), their receiver core isn't as good as I think some people think they are (Van), John Fox has always been more successful with run oriented offenses, and I think their defense, while great, does flip flop periodically. All this combined with the fact that the 49ers are available to pick just stumps me.

I'll admit there is bias here considering I'm a 49ers fan but every analyst I have listened to has said that the 49ers of the three were the best option for Manning if he wanted to win a Super Bowl. I'm not saying that he can't win one in Denver because he can. He pulled a bunch of dead horses in Indianapolis for a long time, he could do it again for the Broncos. I'm just saying it's baffling. I guess Manning really doesn't want to win.

P.S. I have a weird feeling inside of me. I feel... like... I'm rooting for Raiders.
