The pitching duel that everyone expected in Game 1 came in Game 2 with C.J. Wilson and Matt Cain. These two pitchers played very well as Wilson allowed 2 earned in his 6 innings while Cain allowed no runs at all in his 7 2/3 innings. The Rangers were close to breaking into the runs column against Cain like Ian Kinsler's near home run shot to center in the 5th inning. The ball just bounced off the very top of the wall. That was was lucky for the Giants the ball didn't go over as Cain then managed to work out of that inning. Edgar Renteria would hit a Solo Home Run in the 5th and Juan Uribe would bloop in Cody Ross in the 7th to get a 2-0 Giants lead. The Giants would really break it open in the 8th inning as they added 7 more runs thanks to 4 straight walks and 3 more hits. Giants take a this one, 9-0, and now have a 2-0 World Series lead as they head to Arlington.
The Giants continue to surprise with their manufacturing of runs and unexpected big innings. Though I must say that the Rangers really shot themselves in the foot in the 8th inning. They needed only one out to send it to the 9th but they couldn't find the strike zone. Saturday's game at Arlington will feature Jonathan Sanchez dueling Colby Lewis in a hitter's ballpark. Keep it up Giants.
