Game 1 of the World Series had a dream match up of Cliff Lee against Tim Lincecum. Another pitching duel for the ages... potentially. It was not that at all. Both pitchers played well below par but who was worse? Cliff Lee , surprisingly. He was as cool as ice for a while but the Giants eventually got to him in the 5th inning putting on 6 runs. Lee would leave giving up 6 earned runs in the ball game (not all in that inning). The Giants would manage to extend their lead in the 8th and went on to win it, 11-7, and take a 1-0 lead in the series.
Lee had to go through the Rays and the Yankees but the one team that actually beat him in the postseason was the Giants? I must say I was expecting Lee to be lights out while Timmy tried to keep up. Timmy didn't do great himself as he allowed 4 earned runs but he pitched long enough for that bullpen to take over. Luckily the Giants bats came alive. Game 2 is tonight with the C.J. Wilson and Matt Cain as the starting pitchers.
