It seems that Kyle Orton has had a very interesting career so far. He was drafted by the Bears in 2005, traded in 2009 to the Broncos, and now has been waived by that team. It seems that the Broncos don't want Kyle Orton anymore or at least don't want to pay him the rest of his salary for the year. The amount left to be paid is about $3 million. A lot of money but it's for a QB that is good. Not great, good. I have no doubt that Kyle Orton could hold his own if he was put on a well balanced team but so far he hasn't had that luxury in Denver. They just didn't run the ball that much while he was starting. He threw so much.
So who is looking for a new QB? Houston, for one. The Texans need a QB to replace Matt Schaub who is done for the year. They are in a spot to make their first postseason ever and Kyle Orton could give them a chance to go further than round 1. Ironically, Orton's old team, the Chicago Bears, is looking for a QB. Jay Cutler is out for the rest of the regular season and they need a good QB to work in the Mike Martz system. Not sure if Orton is that guy but he seems like the best option available. The Bears arguably need Orton more than the Texans do. The Texans have a two game divisional lead while the Bears are fighting just to stay in the Wild Card hunt.
My bet is that the Texans will take Orton, either on claims or in free agency. Orton might not want to go back to the Bears, the team that dumped him a couple of years ago.
