Been a while since I commented on College Football. Mainly because it's pointless and it's falling out of favor with me. Maybe if they installed a playoff system and let the players have some earnings on the side I wouldn't be so bitter about it.
Anyway, today's big game was a doozy that had illegitimate National Title aspirations on the line. #1 LSU went into Tuscaloosa to face #2 Alabama. That's right, the top two teams in the country with the winner likely to go to the illegitimate National Title game (add playoffs and I'll stop). These two teams were also considered the best defenses in the country. That showed in this game.
Both offenses couldn't solve each other's defenses throughout the game. It was exciting and dull at the same time. No TDs were scored at all. After regulation ended at 6-6, it went into OT. Just like a good defensive game, it was about which offense screwed up more. It turned out to be Alabama. The FG kicking stunk for both Alabama kickers. After an abysmal offensive drive in OT in which they moved backwards, Cade Foster missed his third FG of the game from 52 yards away. With LSU only needing a FG, they just ran the ball quite well and had their kicker, Drew Alleman, kick the game winner from 25 yards out. LSU win's, 9-6.
A true grinder throughout. Anyone who appreciates true defense loved this game. So basically only football analysts loved this game. LSU stays at #1 as a result and seems to have clear path to the illegitimate National Title game. They just need not to screw up and they are in. As for whether it will be Alabama vs. LSU in the illegitimate National Title game, I hope not. No doubt the system will find a way for Alabama to leap frog Boise State even if the Broncos are still undefeated at season's end. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if they have Alabama in front of BSU still in next week's rankings.
Anyway, good game for LSU. You kept it close throughout and then manage to get the win. Great job in the clutch.
P.S. A loss is a loss. GOT THAT, VOTERS!!!
