This whole season for the Dodgers has been defined mainly by not what the players like Matt Kemp have done for the team but by Frank McCourt, the team's owner, who has been fighting to keep control of the Dodgers from MLB and also fighting to avoid bankruptcy. His fights with MLB have lasted 6 months but it has finally come to an end. Frank McCourt finally waived the white flag. He reached an agreement with MLB to sell the Dodgers, the stadium, and the surrounding real estate. The bidding will apparently be handled by the courts and it seems like the price tag for the team is around the $1 Billion mark.
So, who's buying in this downward economy? Not Mark Cuban. He's been denied by MLB twice before and the price tag seems a bit steep for him. That's all I got. I don't know any investors. It would likely be an investing group. I'm just glad that McCourt finally gave up instead of dragging this out throughout the off season. Not sure how much longer he could've lasted. Anyway, some fine selling points for the Dodger team. A few stars currently embrace the roster with those being Kershaw, Ethier, and Kemp. They've been part of LA since the 1950's so they are well established. A downside is that they have to compete with the Angels for attention. Still, it's an attractive team to own.
No doubt when the team does get sold off, it will be one of the biggest pieces of off season news. Whoever does buy it better like Bud Selig. More importantly, be liked by Bud Selig.
