Doc Stays While Phil Goes

Speculation began last year about Doc Rivers and Phil Jackson about what they were going to do at the end of this season. The thought was that both would leave their current teams and ride into the sunset but that Doc Rivers would eventually come back to coach later in life. Half of that Scenario is true. Phil Jackson does ride into the sunset (having been sweep) while Doc Rivers decides to stay with the Celtics signing a 5 year extension supposedly worth over $6 million a year.

While the Celtics have secured their head coaching spot, the Lakers are looking for a replacement. Again, the thought was that Brian Shaw (got the name right this time), their current assistant coach, was going to step in and take over the team. Now, however, the team is looking into Rick Adelman, former coach of the Rockets more recently, and Mike Dunleavy, who was more recently the head coach of the Clippers. Looks like no promotion for Shaw but the Golden State Warriors might be interested in Shaw as head coach. Shaw shouldn't take that job, though. Of course I'm assuming that Shaw would want to win. If he doesn't mind having disappointing seasons, year after year, he might consider it even though it's really a step down. I'M SAYING THE WARRIORS SUCK, ALRIGHT!!!

Of course, it being LA, there is only one way to choose a head coach for the Lakers. Have all the candidates appear on the Apprentice and have Donald Trump fire them one by one.
